Noris De Jesus-Petrones First Book The Pig Girl is a Heart Warming Story of Endurance, Perseverance, and the Indomitable Power of the Human Spirit

(PRWEB) February 23, 2014

Noris De Jesus-Petrone, a practicing Marriage & Family Counselor, as well as an adjunct professor at two separate colleges, has completed her first book “The Pig Girl”: a gorgeously illustrated book filled with wonder and the redeeming power of love and goodness.

“I remember being bullied and feeling like an outsider when I was a teen. As other girls my age were blossoming and becoming ‘beautiful’ I felt that I did not have the gift of beauty or anything that made me special. I would write poems and stories about how I felt, my experiences and dreams. One day, when my class was given the assignment to write a story I wanted to add my experiences of feeling bullied and laughed at, but with a twist of triumph at the end, which is also reminiscent of my own life story many years later. ”

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Noris De Jesus-Petrone’s poignant tale is an uplifting children’s story about a young girl who thinks she has nothing but soon learns that the beauty of her soul and the shining goodness in her heart are priceless commodities that will draw happiness and joy into her life.

In the town of Hunter there lives a young orphan named Julie. Although she is very poor, she supports herself by working in the local farms and feeding the pigs. The other kids in town like to tease her for her job and the way she smells, but that all changes on one unusual day.

After wishing that one day she could become someone special, the wonderful, magical blue pig, Amanda, begins to help turn Julie’s life and luck around.

There is a true and obvious message of not feeling accepted by others. Julie teaches us that it is important to look at ourselves in a positive way, and understand that we all have so much to contribute despite what others may say about us. We must believe it and when we do there is nothing that will stand in the way of our bright future.

Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase “The Pig Girl” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.

Is Omegle Safe? NoBullying Answers in an Article Released Today

London, UK (PRWEB) February 23, 2014

Parents are often quick to remind their children to not start chatting with strangers they meet while out in public or walking down the street, but what about the Internet? A popular website known as Omegle offers a platform for users for chatting with strangers from all over the world on a variety of topics. NoBullying answers, in an article released today, a simple question: Is Omegle Safe?

Omegle is a free website that allows anyone who visits it to chat with strangers. A simple click of the mouse takes users to a virtual chat room where they are paired up with another random user waiting to chat.

A user has the opportunity to ‘walk away’ from the chat at any moment with a simple click of the mouse. Once an individual walks away, they can close the website out completely and stop chatting or be paired up with another stranger.

Some of the safety concerns rising with Omegle include the presence of sex predators on the website posing as younger children, the availability of nude encounters in the video chat feature and the encouragement to take the chat or conversation off of the site. Many users will provide website links, KIK IDs, Skype user names, and phone numbers with the hopes that the individual will take the chat ‘offsite’

Macartan Mulligan, Co-Founder of NoBullying.com, said “Chatting with strangers is a dangerous trend that can result in potentially deadly situations. Imagine a complete stranger chatting with your child or teen and then maybe encourages them to meet up or gets them to send more personal private information like the family address and so on.”

He added that parents and teachers should make a point to educate the younger generations about the sad outcome of bullying online and offline. According to Mulligan, it is quite imperative to press for more firm laws condemning all acts of bullying and harassment.

He also added that anyone suffering from bullying in any form or way can always reach out to the team of NoBullying and they will be given advice on how to stand up to bullying or protect themselves online.

NoBullying.com features many pages dedicated to parents, teens, teachers, health professionals as well as posts related to cyber safety and the latest news about law making concerning curbing Bullying worldwide as well as inspirational Bullying Poems and Bullying Quotes.

Bullying Can Affect Childrens Long-Term Health says Staten Island Pediatrician

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 24, 2014

Dr. Michael Gabriel of Gabriel Pediatrics, a Staten Island pediatric care center, responds to an article published on February 17 by Medical News Today, which discusses the harmful health effects that can stem from childhood bullying.

According to the February 17 article published by Medical News Today titled “Bullying affects children’s long-term health, study shows,” researchers have found that bullied children can experience “severe and lasting” health implications.

A recent study reported in Pediatrics, led by Laura Bogart from Boston Children’s Division of General Pediatrics, followed and interviewed 4,000 children and adolescents, from fifth to 10th grade, about their mental and physical health and about any bullying they experiences.

The study found that bullying was definitely linked with worse mental and physical health, depressive symptoms and lower senses of self-worth. Children who reported extensive chronic bullying experienced additional difficulties with physical activities.

Dr. Michael Gabriel of Gabriel Pediatrics, Staten Island pediatric care center, affirms the study’s findings and believes early interventions are necessary to impede the downward healthy trajectory victims may experience. “Long-term bullying definitely has a severe impact on a child’s overall health,” he says. “More bullying intervention is needed because the sooner we can keep a child from being bullied, the less of a chance the bullying will have a damaging effect on their future health.”

Gabriel Pediatrics provides comprehensive pediatric care to children throughout the New York area with practices both in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Our board certified pediatricians and experienced staff help provide a very warm and nurturing environment for both you and your children. Our approach combines the latest treatment methods with the personal attention you should expect from your doctor.
