UK Band Unsung Lilly Launch Campaign to Inspire Their Listeners to ‘Just Be’

Quirky UK-based soul/pop live music act ‘Unsung Lilly’ have taken a step to encourage their fans to further develop self esteem and self acceptance, by launching their inspirational #JustBeCampaign this week. The band are planning to tour around the USA this Summer, giving their specialized ‘Just Be’ themed music workshops.

“Self Acceptance has definitely been my biggest lesson,” says Sera, one of the vocalists in the band. “Especially being in a band, it puts you right in the firing line of the media. Whilst society is definitely working hard to change its concept of what ‘beauty’ is, its still an every day battle because we get exposed to over 200 unrealistic body images every day via the media, and this leads to us all subconsciously being taught that we are not good enough.”

The band’s message does not just constrict itself to body image issues though. After putting out a blog post on the band’s self penned blog site, fans got involved by sending in videos and emails about their own experiences with self esteem problems.

“Body image came up a lot, but we also had people talking about gender equality, sexuality, cultural upbringing and various forms of bullying,” explains Frankie, the band’s other vocalist and keyboard player. “So we decided to feature all these subjects in our campaign video. We’re really proud of how its turned out – and have already received messages from people saying it inspired them and brought them to tears!”

In the video, the band talk of their own personal experiences with the subject matter. Drummer Wayne, describes how he was scarred as a young 18 month year old baby. “I pulled a pot of tea over me basically,” says Wayne. “Long story short, I was in hospital for 6 months, very nearly didn’t make it, and was scarred all down my left arm, and on pieces of my face and chin. It was really hard as a child growing up, I used to try to hide my scars….but as I got older I realised that actually being different is not something to be afraid of. As soon as I started loving my scars, the better people reacted to them and I think people just love to hear my story of how it all happened.”

“We are really excited about the workshops, and hope to inspire and help people via the power of music!” explains Sera. The workshops will be held in schools, corporations, community centers etc and will focus on developing confidence via songwriting. “We’re going to spend the first half of the workshop telling our own stories about how we have personally struggled with the subject of self acceptance, and encouraging the participants to share their own feelings, and then the second half will be spent writing a song about the subject, as one big group, using music to empower and inspire.”

Help the band fund this project and spread their message to a greater audience. Check out the link http://www.JustBeCampaign.com and contribute to their goal, or share the video/campaign with as many people as you can to help spread the word.

Scenario Learning Expands into Workplace Safety with the Launch of SafePersonnel

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) March 05, 2014

Over the past decade, Scenario Learning has helped thousands of school districts, colleges and insurance partners reduce losses while increasing safety with the SafeSchools and SafeColleges product lines. Now, through the launch of the SafePersonnel suite, the leading developer of safety and compliance solutions is helping non-academic organizations create safer workplaces.

U.S. workplace statistics reveal that nearly 2 million workers are victims of workplace violence each year, one in four women reports workplace harassment and up to one-third of employees experience workplace bullying.

Providing a safe and hazard-free workplace is not just an employer’s responsibility, it is often the law. Workplace safety encompasses a variety of topics, including environmental hazards such as asbestos awareness or hazard communications; illegal employment practices such as discrimination or sexual harassment; and human resource concerns such as workplace bullying and violence prevention. Employers who don’t protect workers may incur OSHA fines, workers’ comp claims or costly lawsuits – all of which are detrimental to any organization.

The SafePersonnel suite can help employers provide safer workplaces and has been customized for municipalities, non-profits, businesses and other non-academic organizations. The suite includes solutions for staff training and compliance management, safety incident reporting and tracking, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory management.

”We developed the SafePersonnel product line because of the terrific success that our education customers have had with SafeSchools and SafeColleges,” said Scenario Learning CEO Brian Taylor. “Many of our customers, who have implemented the programs well, have reduced losses by more than 50 percent, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, all while increasing safety. We want to deliver these same benefits to other organizations as well.”

Long-time Scenario Learning partners, Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage/consulting firm in California, and the Special Districts Association of Oregon (SDAO) have already implemented the SafePersonnel Staff Training and Compliance Management System for their municipality clients.

The SafePersonnel Staff Training System includes a comprehensive library of expert-authored courses on workplace safety topics. The system allows managers to easily assign training, and automatically tracks training completions in real-time. Employees say they like the flexibility that online training provides, allowing them to complete training from any web-enabled device.
